We work only in immigration and employment law, and we know every procedure inside out. You don't need to know what yours is called: select your situation and we'll show you the options.

I've been living in Spain for a while and want to regularise my status

Depending on how long you have been here, your work, your family or your training, there are different types of arraigo.

Arraigo sociolaboral

If you've been in Spain for some time and have an employment contract or a job offer.

Arraigo social

If you've been in Spain for some time and have family or social ties here.

Arraigo socioformativo

If you want to regularise your status while you train.

Arraigo de segunda oportunidad

If you previously held a residence permit and were unable to renew it.

Arraigo familiar

If you are the father, mother or guardian of a European minor.

I want to work in Spain as an employee or as a self-employed person

To work for a company or run your own business.

Work as an employee

If a company wants to hire you.

Self-employment

If you want to start a business or work as a self-employed person.

I want to bring my family over

To be reunited in Spain with your partner, your children or other relatives.

Family reunification

If you are a foreign national living in Spain as a resident and want your family to come and live with you.

If your family member is Spanish or an EU citizen, this isn't family reunification: it's residence as a family member, which you apply for under “I'm a family member of a Spanish or EU citizen”.

I'm a family member of a Spanish or EU citizen and want to obtain my residence

These are two different procedures, depending on your family member's nationality.

Residence as a family member of a Spanish citizen

If you have Spanish children, a Spanish partner or spouse, or Spanish parents or siblings, and want to obtain your residence permit in Spain.

Requirements and documents
Residence card for a family member of an EU citizen

If you have children, a partner, a spouse, a father or siblings who are EU citizens and the EU scheme applies to you.

Requirements and documents

I'm a citizen of the European Union and want to live in Spain

If you're going to live in Spain for more than three months.

EU citizen registration certificate

Registration in the Central Register of Foreign Nationals: what is known as the “green NIE” (NIE verde).

Requirements and documents

I want to study in Spain

To come and study, to carry on studying or, once you finish, to stay on and work.

Student stay permit

Your first permit to come and study in Spain.

Student stay permit extension

If you're already studying here and need to extend your stay.

Switching from a student stay permit to a residence and work permit

If you have successfully completed your studies and want to stay on and work: this is the procedure for moving, when the requirements are met, from a student stay permit to a residence and work permit.

I want to live in Spain without working

If you have enough means of your own to live here.

Non-lucrative residence

To live in Spain without carrying out any work.

I've been living legally in Spain for several years and want to obtain Spanish nationality

We explain the requirements, the documents and the procedure, and we handle the application with you.

Nationality by residence

If you already meet the period of legal residence required by law: 10 years as a general rule, and less in some cases.

Requirements and documents
Nationality application follow-up

If you've already applied and want to know where it stands or what's still missing.

My application has been refused

You can still act. The options depend on each decision: we go through it with you and tell you which one fits.

Administrative appeal (reposición or alzada)

To ask the authorities to review their decision. You usually have one month from notification.

Judicial review before the administrative courts

To take the decision to court when the administrative route is not enough.

Removal of criminal and police records

If you have been refused because of a criminal or police record: we get your records removed.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most about immigration

How do I know which procedure applies to me?

It depends on your situation: how long you have been in Spain, whether you have family here, whether you work or study. If you're not sure, tap “I'd like advice” and we'll guide you before anything is started.

How long does an immigration procedure take?

It varies depending on the procedure and the immigration office. Preparing your paperwork properly from the start is what helps most to avoid requests for further documents and delays.

What happens if my residence card is about to expire?

You can apply for renewal during the 60 days before it expires and up to 90 days afterwards. Even so, it's best not to leave it until the last minute.

When can I apply for Spanish nationality?

As a general rule, after 10 years of legal residence. For nationals of Ibero-American countries, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea and Portugal, and for people of Sephardic origin, it is 2 years, and in some cases it is 1 year (for example, through marriage to a Spanish national).

My application has been refused. What can I do?

You can usually file a request for reconsideration (recurso de reposición) within one month of being notified. We review the decision to see whether it's better to appeal or to apply again.

Can I have a consultation if I'm not in Barcelona?

Yes. We can see you by video call and handle much of the procedure remotely.

General guidance only. Every case is different: talk to us before making a decision.
