EU citizen registration certificate
For EU citizens who are going to live in Spain for more than three months and must register in the Central Register of Foreign Nationals (what is known as the green NIE, or NIE verde).
Who it is for
For citizens of a European Union country, the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or Switzerland who are coming to live in Spain for more than three months.
General requirements
- Valid passport or identity card.
- Proving your situation in Spain: employment or self-employment; or sufficient financial means and health insurance; or studies, with health insurance and sufficient means.
- Applying in person, with an appointment, at the Immigration Office (Oficina de Extranjería) or at the police station in your province.
